Disney has been searching for about a year now for their Mulan, but the search is finally over!
Liu Yifei, a popular Chinese actress, model and singer in China, was announced Wednesday by Disney to be playing the Disney princess Mulan. Liu is also known as Crystal Yifei and starred in Forbidden Kingdom along side of Jackie Chan.
The upcoming Mulan film is set to be a live action film to be released in 2019. The story is about a young woman who takes her fathers place in the army by impersonating a man. This film is to be based off the 1998 cartoon Mulan, which originally grossed $304 million worldwide. Even the soundtrack was Academy Award nominated.
Niki Caro, from Whale Rider, is set to direct this film along side with Jason Reed, Chris Bender and Jake Weiner as producers.
